May 2015 Spring Creek Planting Day

Crowley Ranch residents and friends joined organizers, Carey Bare and the Bare Family, to complete Phase I of the Spring Creek Restoration area at Crowley Ranch Reserve along Hwy. 84, just south of Chromo, CO. Fifteen volunteers transplanted clumps of shrubs to newly constructed floodplains and used a “stinger” to plant cottonwood poles and 100 bareroot seedlings, including native plum, chokecherry, golden currant, and red-osier dogwood. After walking the project site after the workday, Carey wrote and thanked the volunteers, “Wow! It looks fantastic! What a tremendous effort you put in this last week. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. We started envisioning the project in 2008 and the first phase is finally complete. I’m inspired to start thinking about the next phase.” For more information about the Spring Creek Restoration Project, click here.
